WARNING - you are about to read a really dumb post.
i was driving nola to the doctor the other night (no ear infection thank you God!!)....and noticed a street sign that i can't get out of my head because i'm deep like that. Chrysanthemum Street. i just had to do spell check on that because i had no clue how to spell chrysanthemum and when i just typed it again i had to look at the spell fixed word and it took me like 5 minutes to type it again.
what was the developer that came up with this street name thinking?? the limitless possibilities are what keep me up at night....i told you, i'm deep. i mean, was he giving props to his favorite flower or is that a plant? is he a member of the chrysanthemum society? does he show his chrysanthemums in the county fair? or maybe it was an act of cruelty. maybe his wife cheated on him and as part of the divorce settlement he had to give her one of the townhouses in his new development so he thought he would make the street name his vengence.
think about buying one of the townhouses and changing your address on all of your mail, work info, bank info, etc. and getting your new license and verifying your address on the phone to the call centers that are outsourced to india. the agony overwhelms me. and what about forms like voting ballotts and sweepstakes cards where you have to put one letter in each box. do you think they have enough boxes to spell out the whole word? and if they don't have enough boxes will you forever be losing mail and ultimately become the latest victim of identity theft? sweet Jesus.
so to all of you developers who decide on street names like chrysanthemum or shades of death ( a road that haunts me from new jersey) or falls of the neuse ( a road one of my shopping centers is on in north carolina that i blame for any vacancy in that center) or tequista circle (my old street where the developer thought it would be smart to also have a tequista court - thanks).......think about the lives you are affecting.....the sleepless nights and the mispellings.....the shame, ohhhh the shame.

Do you remember when Chuck County installed it's 911 address system and all of the "roads" (dirt roads as well as paved)with 2 or more houses needed to be named? Here's a few of my favorites...Pop's Place, His Lordship's Place, Cue Ball's Place. Actually, His Lordship's Place is right down the road from Cue Ball's Place on Route 488. Don't you miss all that Charles County has to offer?
Oh...the Street Namer. That is a job I have ALWAYS wanted. It would be awesome to have that kind of impact on people and THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW ME!

The streets in our town all have themes. There is a section with ivy league college names - Yale, Columbia, Harvard, etc. Then there are the nuts - Filbert, Hazelnut, Walnut, etc.
It is cute, but annoying. What is so wrong with 1st, 2nd, 3rd street?
This made me crack up! Or you could LIVE in a whole subdivision named...wait for it...ready?
