adios 2010

As I sit here, 6 hours from the new year, I thought I would take the time to reflect. I can't say I've ever been more excited about starting a new year. 2010 was a tough one. But instead of whining, bitching and crying - I'm going to list what I've learned this past year.

  1. Having a happy, healthy child is the greatest gift of all.
  2. College is more than just getting a degree and getting a job. I'm finishing my 2nd semester now and some people don't really understand why I'm busting my butt to even go. I have a great job and finally getting my bachelors probably won't make any difference financially. I initially started because I want my girls to know how important it is to go to college. However now that I'm back in the learning swing (15 years later), I realize that college is really just another important step in life. Knowledge is power indeed.
  3. 2010 has taught me to be a little more logical and little less emotional.
  4. I need to slow down, accept that I can't do it all and most importantly not wear wedge heels.
  5. I need to be my genuine self all of the time and people can either take it or leave it.
  6. I can't fix people but i can nurture, teach and love my children.
  7. Taking care of myself is not selfish, it's vital.
  8. While living in the present is key, planning for the future is so important.
  9. Living near my family isn't just great because of convenience and support, but the happiness it gives me is what I was missing and searching for the whole time I moved all over the country!
I hope to take all of this and evolve into a better person for 2011. I want to learn more. I want to be the best mom I can be.

Here's to a new year! Cheers!
